Here’s the good news, ranchers are finally getting fair prices for their beef. The bad news is that we are all paying more, sometimes much more for all beef cuts. Stores are getting hit with 10 cents to 50 cents every week for cuts across the board. At Lakeview we have been absorbing these small amounts for months. The time is coming soon when we will have to raise all meat packs.
I would strongly recommend that you hustle in and stock up now! With most items up $1 to as much as $3 per pound, meat packs will likely rise from $10 to $30 very soon. And remember, the more you buy the more you save. Always purchase the largest meat pack you can afford. This is like putting money in the bank. Prices are only going to go up more.
Please don’t make the mistake of cutting back on the only concentrated source of protein in your diet. The meat! Remember just a half of pound of meat supplies your entire daily protein, while TV dinners and other frozen foods provide only a fraction of your daily needs. (A Hungry Man TV dinner only supplies about a third of your daily protein, and to get enough, you need over a dozen eggs!) Also, we have over a dozen great fresh, frozen fish items that are a great alternative to fresh meats.
If you are avoiding the supermarkets due to low quality and inordinately high prices, be sure to stock up when you make the drive! Note: The supermarkets are especially high right now and are cutting back horribly on their variety. There has never been a better time to shop at our meat department and deli.
